This movie is just all over the place. So many parts of it are awkward and need to be rewritten and/or just generally need an editing pass, but other parts, on the other hand, are really poignant and even quite true to life. With said brilliant scenes, you can tell all of it came straight from the heart of Kevin Smith who both wrote and directed this. There are even some parts that I found to be pretty funny. It's just such a shame though that the rest of the movie is in need of some serious polishing.

Another thing is that the actress they picked for Alyssa is just not great. Her looks are pretty on-point and she's gorgeous, but her voice is rather high pitched, even for a woman. Further, her acting is... Sometimes it's great, and sometimes it's wildly out of place. (This could be much more the fault of the director though. I'm not sure.) All in all, she represents this entire movie great! :) Meanwhile, Ben Affleck is doing a pretty good job with Jason Lee doing a decent job as well, though his character can get a bit obnoxious, but that's sort of the point of his character, so I'll let it pass.

All that said... I think one should still see this movie. Just know that you're gonna have to wade through some of a bad movie in order to get to the good stuff.
