I just bought a few new board games last week. I got to play then over the weekend and they were a ton of fun!

Splendor
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Splendor_(game)
You buy gems to buy cards with your gems which gives you a gem discount on all cards you buy. Then you stack enough discounts to get cards for free and once you have enough points you win.

The Resistance
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Resistance_(game)
Mafia/werewolf style of misinformation game. Great at parties and up to 10 players

Survive

While I didn't play this one this weekend, I had the original game. It involves a sinking island with sea monsters around it. You have to move your players to the boats and have them not get eaten before they reach the safety of another island.

I've played and enjoyed both Splendor and The Resistance.

I enjoy social deduction games quite a lot, so things like The Resistance and One Night Ultimate Werewolf are right up my alley.

I think Splendor is quite newbie friendly as I won the first time playing it against people who had played it a lot more then me.

I'm part of the Board Game Society at the local university, but have been unable to go there lately. Hopefully I'll get a chance to go back.
