DeBlasio openly sided with the BLM and even authorized their logo to be spraypainted all over the street in front of the Trump building. I remember a Democrat governor, I forget her name and the state she governed, saying the terrorists needed "Room to destroy". I was following the riots. The Democrats were in power at the time, they could have easily stopped the rioters if they didn't support them. But not only did they support them, they tried to defund the police just to strip away that extra layer of protection against those monsters.
No, they just back bills that would strip away your rights to privacy and right to firearms. (Check the Blacklist I linked in my last post on the Senate side.) Though, when has the Democratic party officially sought to censor news stories?
A lot of those are probably RINOs. I don't know for certain though. But Republicans are supposed to be pro-gun, so they sound like RINOs to me. Though does "assault weapon" refer to assault rifles, as in submachine guns, specifically? Or did they extend that definition to include guns in general? In that case, yeah, definitely RINOs; a hardcore Republican would want to make money off selling guns.
"Officially"? So we're agreeing that
unofficially they indeed were trying to do just that? I know that they were banning videos exposing the dark secrets of the COVID-19 vaccine. And through the entertainment industry, they were pushing woke messages without leaving any room for alternatives for people who didn't want to see their traditionally straight, cisgender, white-skinned, red-haired protagonists turned into some combination of nonwhite LGBTQ mouthpieces. Oh, sure, Blackrock were the primary force pushing that, but where do you think they got the money to keep failing woke companies like Disney afloat from? I have no proof of this, granted, but it's pretty evident: Woke companies push Leftist messages, Blackrock and other similar groups funnel them money so they don't go completely bankrupt from alienating 90% of their fanbase, preserving the illusion that they're still a successful, wholesome family company when the truth couldn't be more opposite, and that money comes from taxpayer dollars collected by Leftist governments.
Yes, they did. Regardless though, do you have a problem with Ukraine or something? Or a problem with the amount given?
I did correct myself on that after my family pointed out they did support that. Fuck them for that. I have a problem with my country donating money to a war we really have no place in while people are starving in our own streets, and they're shepherding in millions more that will only put further strain on our resources. I don't side with Russia or Ukraine; they've both done dirty things, and I'd rather we stay out of it.
Both political sides claim that. Hell, I saw threads on Reddit claiming the exact opposite.
The exact opposite of what, exactly? That the Republicans were convincing Democrats to leave their own party to support Trump?
I don't defend the left. Or the right.
You seem pretty focused on demonizing Trump and the Republicans as of late, which gives the impression of greater Leftist sympathy. Or for some reason you consider the Republicans the greater threat, as I do the Democrats. I'd be interested in hearing from you what's horrible about Kamala Harris, as you claim she's just as bad as Trump but in a different way. As for me, I'm aware of Trump's background. He's hardly a heroic man, and I've heard his supporters have done some radical things as well. I've been wary of supporting him for the past few years, and actually sank into depression at first because no option seemed right. I even began hating most of humanity for being assholes and monsters, and was just waiting for humanity to destroy itself. I've gotten better since then, but the emotional scars from 2020 are still there, and I doubt they'll ever completely heal.
So, let it be clear: I don't defend either side, myself. We just seem to disagree on which is the bigger threat right now.
I complain about extremism and the illusion propagated by both parties, both equally corrupt, that things HAVE to be Republican vs. Democrat, and that you and I, mere plebs, don't have power but only to go to either side. But we do. You are powerful, Islander. I fight against the idea that we can't unify. We CAN. We should. We should try to understand the other side as much as possible, even if we don't agree with them all the time. We start with some empathy.
"The greatest lie that this generation has believed is the idea that we don't have power."
- Andreas M. Antonopoulos
I say "fuck you" to everyone who thinks they can tell me how to live, and I welcome those who respect my rights and are willing to let me be. They get one chance to show empathy, and if they blow it, I will not show empathy to them.
Ideally... A state, hopefully multiple states, would peacefully declare independence from the US. Realistically, it will probably take a carefully organized revolution, and we all know how wonderfully fun those are for everyone. >_>
Would be easier to do in a time before hobbies like video games, swag collection, etc. gave people extra incentive to not endanger themselves.
We found people to do it in 1787. We can certainly find people to do it now. With that said, most of the hard work has already been done by the founding fathers. The biggest thing that would need to be done is implementation of the voting restriction and franchise system. But I already wrote out prototypes for that. How votes are counted also needs a complete change, but that's a very easy fix.
Except this isn't 1787. People today have very different mentalities from people back then (at least about some things), and technology is much more advanced and ubiquitous. The tactics that worked back then won't work now. One, corrupt government officials aren't just going to let people create a system where they have no power; they'll use armed force to eliminate any threats. Not necessarily soldiers; corrupt police officers or assassins will get the job done swimmingly, with far less evidence of the deed or risk of total revolt. Then, after you get past the inevitable armed suppression, there's the matter of convincing who knows how many millions of people with conflicting beliefs to gather together in some way to create a system of laws that they can all agree on that doesn't just lead us back to square one.
On a basic level, I agree with you: we need a new, better system. But I know all too well what that will entail, and I'm dubious that most people want to make the sacrifices necessary. That's why they rally behind whatever politician they think is least likely to screw them over; they would rather try and make changes within the existing system than to challenge the system as a whole.
Everyone's biased to some degree. We just have to make due with what we have. But again, most of the hard work has already been done. Note that I said we need an AUDIT, not a complete re-creation.
And are the politicians being audited just going to step down quietly? Haha, no - they'll do whatever they can to hold on to their power, be it bribery, intimidation, threats, or all-out war. An audit requires that the officials being audited are willing to cooperate in the first place, and if that were the case, we wouldn't be sitting here talking about the matter, would we?
At this point, anyone that isn't a Republican or Democrat. It doesn't matter who as long as the Republican/Democrat party lock is broken. Then we can start looking into who is actually fit to be in office. Baby steps first though. But also again, the presidency is a red herring. Congress is where everyone should be focused.
That's a pretty broad spectrum. I'm pretty sure Kim Jong Eel isn't a Dem or Rep, nor do I think we should be following him. I assume you mean some American independent who has the qualities of a good leader yet somehow hasn't risen to prevalence amidst the polarized political scene.
And yes, Congress is important as well. All three branches are important. Same idea applies to all of them: who is/are the right person/people, how do you find them, and how do you ensure they take office and keep it?
