I have a pimped out dedicated server for Halo Online ready to go with some sweet maps. I'd love to host everyone but who would want to do it?

BTW, don't worry about acquisition and installation if you're worried about that. I can help with ALL of it. ;)

Current List:
(Unnamed friend)
Kaleion
Arnox
Vendor-Lazarus
Houseman
Monochrom
Signa

Date and Time - May 30th, 6 PM (Pacific)

You can find us at "The Pacific Coast Lounge". Alternatively, you can do a server.connect command with 50.39.202.20 for the IP.

Generally I'd be all for it, but my Internet kinda sucks and my Rig broke a few Months back and I have no idea if the Stump I'm currently using could run it.

Most likely it could. Halo Online was originally designed to run on shit computers with shit connections.

I haven't played a Halo game since CE. What is Halo Online like?

Halo: Online? Is that Halo 3,4 or 5?

Maybe it's something I haven't heard about, might be fun but I don't have an Xbox.

Halo Online is Halo 3 on the PC basically. What PC gamers have been screaming for for a while now. Unfortunately, Halo Online is not a full port. Purely due to time constraints, it's missing:

- Campaign
- Theater mode
- Playable Elites
- Some of the original maps

HOWEVER, Halo Online adds a whole bunch of things as well that were never there in Halo 3 retail. These things include:

+ MASSIVELY improved Forge mode
+ Server browser plus dedicated server tools
+ Extra items and weapons added
+ Some new maps added
+ Improved appearance customization
+ More Custom Games options
+ Support for both KB+M and controllers
+ In-game command console
+ Mod support
+ Slightly improved graphics

And you get all this completely for free.

Neat, to be honest, I've never been into Halo or Online shooters in general but yeah, if the schedule aligns, sure I'm in.

I've managed to find a link to a fully prepared version of Halo Online (ms23, ElDewrito 0.6) where one doesn't have to fiddle with it all. I will hopefully test it out tomorrow.

Done. Works superbly.

Played on a local map for training and configuring settings.
Got it pretty close to feeling perfect.

Tried to find out if bots are an option/mod but it seems not..yet.
Have to practice with others then.

Also need to find out which button is the Push To Talk one.
According to some searchers, you have to use another program for that?
Or turn of PTT.

I would just use Discord. We're all in the Escape Pod, right?

Hey, I'm not on the list! I do get home around that time, so I might be a tad late.

The what now?
Oh... Hmm... Well, does anyone have a discord server they want to have us all join? I could open mine up to everyone or I could try to get Houseman an invite to the Escape Pod.

I thought Discord was a browser chat thingie?
A bandwidth heavy one I've heard.

You can have it in a browser, but most people download the desktop application and use that.
It also has voice chat that's super-simple to set up

When I chat my friends with the phone app, its about a .5 to .75MB per minute. I only get a gig limit per month, so that's pretty affordable, even for me.

If absolutely everyone else has and/or joins a discord.. I'll comply.

I'm thinking we need to organize it better next time.

This was no fun at all. Waaay to many players. Passworded perhaps. And some sort of team play, since we are not all up to Julio's level (whoever he is). We need a structered, more slow played and larger map to get comfortable with the game instead of that close quarters hectic grind, where one only learns to respawn.
Also, this is 0300 ..3 AM.. for me. on a work day. Lets do saturdays or something?

Voice could be fun as well for those who have mics. More human as Signa said.

I couldn't even figure out how to swap weapons. I could only pick up new ones. Wasn't there an alt-fire button too that I was missing?

In any case, I mostly had fun, but I felt a little guilty because I teamkilled a few times out of confusion.
