Ads? in MY game? It might be more likely than you think

I really shouldn't be surprised at this point. That being said, i kinda get why they would do it for F2P games since they're inherently unprofitable but I somehow doubt this means we'd see the end of mtx riddled F2P games. Also concerns me that it will, inevitably, be integrated into none F2P games

Advertisers are missing a trick. Pay modders to make new things like vehicles, clothing, levels. Put some advertising in that fits - like logos on racing cars, billboards in the game level, etc.

I'm never, ever excited for ads in games, but I fully accept them in F2P games, because I don't expect a game to just simply be free of charge. When I'm stranded at work with only my phone, a free mobile game is a good way to burn some free time, and most of those games aren't worth spending cash on to begin with.

Why make a good game like Elden Ring that sells COD numbers when you can half-ass it and pull in the same revenue with ads?

Fucking AAA industry...

20 years from now, people are gonna still be playing and talking about games like BioShock. I wonder if they'll even remember games like Far Cry 6.

Yup. I started playing the Fromsoft games early 2020, and it's incredible how many people were playing the non-remastered version of Dark Souls then. It has some legit staying power, because the people that made it actually cared about the game. It's got some jank up to the wazoo, but it's still fun.

I can understand your concern, gaijinkaiju. It's not surprising to hear about in-game ads for free-to-play games. Indeed, this topic has been discussed for quite some time. It's true that F2P games can be tough to monetize, which might have led to such considerations by gaming companies.
This sounds like it was written by an AI. Gonna do a bot check. >_>

It does sound like one, but its name is pure Swedish and means Werewolf. Not sure an AI would use that in these circumstances.

Hörru, lit slang på de hela fallatt du skull va en bot, men äru svenne?
