2010 Feels Like the Point Where Tech Overall Began its Decline

Although I suppose an argument could be made for 2012 as well. Basically though, TOTSE shut down in 2009, Facebook began to eat into MySpace like mad in 2010 along with many other smaller sites starting to die in 2011 and 2012. Bungie also leaves Microsoft and joins Activision in 2010. Then microtransactions starting taking hold in 2012. Windows 8 came in 2012. YouTube's bullshit Content ID launched in 2012. Then there was that gamergate shit in 2013 along with the Xbox One launch. The Galaxy S6 launched in 2015 with no SD card slot or removable battery. Then in 2016, Apple removed the headphone jack to sell more wireless earbuds.

All of this crap though... It all seems to have its roots in 2010 and then really started getting visible in 2012...

So what the fuck happened in 2010???

Fun fact: the S&P 500's crash during the great recession began in August of 2008... and ended in January of 2011.

To make a new turn on an old phrase, quality only happens in tech when there aren't financial bulls to chase. The internet was a disaster during the dot-com boom as well.
