Her suicide came a day after she’d been at the centre of a Twitter pile-on – and now Jon Ronson has followed up his podcast The Butterfly Effect with a sequel that will unravel the dark and unexpected story behind her death.

As I recall, she tweeted something about not performing with male actors who also did gay porn, because the health testing standards for those supposedly aren't quite as strict. Needless to say, she got called every -ist and -phobe in the dictionary for it.

Haha. I had to cut something for the title of the news to fit, ended up removing the producers name from the beginning, guess I could have done better with "Podcast to investigate the death of porn star August Ames".



I don't know if there was any backlash for the participants. There was a lot of public grieving from others in her line of work.


The question that will ever haunt me is why she never did full anal (at least on film). Given the message that sparked this was about gay performers, maybe this investigation will uncover some hint.
