I've been talking with a few people here about YouTube and their new lows they've sunk to for copyright strikes. Frankly, I'm pretty nervous now about posting videos there in any capacity considering how I always use game footage.

I could start uploading things to both YouTube and Dailymotion, but that would be kind of a pain to be honest, though it may be one I'm just gonna have to stomach.

There is also BitChute. Which I would personally recommend.
While I really like the fact that it's pretty loose in terms of rules, just browsing the front page of it is... Eyebrow-raising. Ironically, I don't really know if I'm comfortable sharing a space with so many who are that extreme. lol

EDIT: Was going to say, this site really needs some form of categories, but then I happily discovered them. They're kinda hidden in the hamburger menu to the far left. Actually, that, funnily enough, made me warm up to it a lot more, knowing it wasn't just conspiracy and far right videos. In fact, I think this site wouldn't have nearly as much of a PR problem if it didn't immediately shove all these extreme videos in front of people right when they open the site up for the first time. Especially with the category menu kinda hidden as it is. Really gives off a bad impression and kinda weird too. Having said, if that's the only problem it has, then it's doing far better than fucking YouTube.

Could you host videos here? A simple <video> tag would work.

I don't think "discoverability" would be an issue, because let's be honest, nobody browsing Youtube is going to stumble upon anything of ours. They're most likely going to be linked directly to the video by one of your posts on reddit.

We certainly can, but then we run into the sticky issue of storage and bandwidth. We have 80 GBs of storage space and 8 TBs/month of bandwidth. Video streaming, while it would be small right now, would start to suck all that up like crazy, unfortunately. I suppose we can host one video temporarily and still provide reliable service, but then, how will viewers view past videos?

I would be VERY surprised if you could get enough people to watch enough videos to take up 8TB of bandwidth in a month.

I would be too, but planning for the future is incredibly important as well. I don't want to set myself up for huge problems with the videos later on. Also don't forget, we're hosting game files here too, which usually take up an even heftier amount of space and bandwidth.

That is what tends to happen when you have more Free Speech than your opponents. Those banned or dis-incentivized by the mainstream alternatives flock together and gets most of the views. I could agree that the BitChute frontpage needs some work though.

While you are very likely right, for now. It never hurts to plan for the future.

BitChute is P2P. ,)
