If you ever did.

A guy with a white-sounding name, Chris. sent in a resume, and got rejected.
The same guy sent in mostly the same resume, with a foreign name and much worse qualifications, full of spelling errors, and made it to the 2nd round.

The trick is to play into the diversity hire.
Say your a [insert race here] [insert gender here] and when you show up for the interview just say you're transracial and transgender.
Boom.
Diversity boxes ticked, Job secured.
Bonus, if they don't hire you, you can claim discrimination and grift on twitter

Take with a grain of salt. That person is completely anonymous with no hard evidence that this is true. Always check sources for claims such as this.

Scroll down. The OP posted a screenshot of the fake-name email account.

This is that screenshot:

What else would you want to see as "hard evidence"? What "sources" would you like to see?
For one, why didn't he post this somewhere else more official instead of 4chan? Also, emails can easily be faked. For starters, I'd like to see the email address of the DDG official who sent this email and make sure that it was sent using the official DDG domain. I see scam emails ALL the time where they have the name PayPal in the From section, but it's really just a nickname that obscures the real email address which is just this incredibly obvious bot email account with a long nonsense stream of characters and numbers.

It would also make sense for Google/Bing to do a smear campaign against DDG addressed to those who would most likely use the service.

Why do you think this is sourced from 4chan? I didn't link to 4chan.

This is sourced from:

. For starters, I'd like to see the email address of the DDG official who sent this email.
1. Click the archive link
2. Click the image
3. You can find the email address of the official in the bottom-right screenshot: "diana@duckduckgo.recruitee.com"

She has a linkedIn and everything.

It would also make sense for Google/Bing to do a smear campaign against DDG addressed to those who would likely use the service.
I would expect that the mainstream media would be the ones to report on it, if that were the case.
But I don't think they ever will, because this would also get people thinking "does Company X also do this?", and companies don't want you to think about diversity hires. They want to keep it a secret.

I bet you Google and Bing also do this. I bet you every large company that has a "diversity" team does this. They don't want that cat out of the bag.

Plus, people use DDG to get AWAY from Google/Bing. They're not going back. They'd rather go to another alternate search engine, of which there are many.

Ah. It's the exact same format as 4chan pretty much, so I assumed that's where it came from. Either way, he's still totally anonymous.

There we go. OK. It is a little suspicious though that Diana's full address isn't unfurled in the rejecting email, but in the acceptance email, she has the full email address after her name. Also, the subdomain doesn't look to be in the correct order, but then again, I can't remember if that's something you can do or not. Will have to test that later.

By the way, someone's tryharding with the Revy memes in the comments. lol

EDIT: Yep, duckduckgo.recruitee.com is not a valid subdomain. Or it could be if it's not actually using the duckduckgo main domain and instead has recruitee.com as the primary domain.

Take the link to the old forums we have here for example. It is "darkages.intosanctuary.com". It can't be "intosanctuary.darkages.com" unless I owned the main domain "darkages.com" and made a subdomain of that.

The rejection emails show gmail or something as the client. The fake account is protonmail, so the different UIs would explain that.

By the way, someone's tryharding with the Revy memes in the comments. lol
Yes, I saw that and I thought of you.

Yeah, recruitee.com is probably the primary domain. Go to their site and you see

"Talent Acquisition Platform
Powerful software that makes hiring easy."

Why are you trying so hard to cast doubt on this? Do you have some particular attachment to DDG or something?

Awwwww... Come on. I'm not that bad. :(

Why are you trying so hard to cast doubt on this?
Because if this were me, I'd want people to make damn well sure that the accusations are at least mostly valid. We often preach against cancel culture, but if we're willing to boycott a company over an email someone allegedly sent and received, then how much better are we really? So the question shouldn't be, "Why are you trying so hard to cast doubt on this." It should instead be, "Why are you believing this so quickly?"

Hell, if anything else...

So what more evidence would you like to see? What would convince you?
Ideally, for this sort of issue, a trend. One person can make stuff up. Easily. A bunch of people though... That's much harder to ignore. It still doesn't eliminate all the doubt of course, but it's enough to be taken seriously. When enough people are reporting the same thing, that's enough to raise an eyebrow.

Or DDG could just come out and shoot themselves in the foot and confirm everything the anonymous person posted and double down. lol Sounds stupid but I've seen a bunch of companies do it before.

What you're asking for is virtually impossible.

You'll never see a trend. The cat's out of the bag. If they're smart, they'll raise their defenses so that they can't get tricked like this again.
Social experiments no longer work on people once you tell them what the experiment is.

Or DDG could just come out and shoot themselves in the foot and confirm everything the anonymous person posted and double down. lol Sounds stupid but I've seen a bunch of companies do it before.
I hope this happens. Since they're gaining attention on Twitter, I hope they get pressured to make some kind of statement.

I also sent them an email, for what it's worth.

Here's a thread about it on their subreddit, in case it gets removed like the last one:

The saga continues

I've long used DDG, so I don't want this to be true, although I fear it is.
They've supported and donated to leftist organizations before, and is currently boasting about being carbon-negative..soo.. That's a trend.

@Houseman What search-engine would you recommend instead? I never saw you proffer one of the alt-techs?

So it probably wasn't even DuckDuckGo at fault anyway, it was likely whatever hiring agency they are using. If there's even any basis in fact whatsoever, that is.

I said Brave, not Blink.
Brave uses the Blink engine. Some people say this is unacceptable, and some people say it's just fine as long as the devs do their due dilligence, but as for me, why even take the risk?

Brave probably has a better mobile browser though.

Like Arnox said. Blink, developed and supported by Google, Microsoft and Facebook... Is the engine behind all other browser except Firefox and Pale Moon today.
Edge, Dissenter, Opera, Brave, Chrome, Epic, Vivaldi, and more.
That means those three control the internet, the layout, the behind-the-scenes, everything.
What direction it takes, what's allowed, what isn't..

Wait till you guys find out about W3C, what they do, and who the major contributors to that are. You'll never want to use the internet again!

No need to get so obviously defensive..
The difference between one browser controlled by three, is not the same as a concept overseen by 443.

If you're talking about "controlling the internet", "browser mono-culture", or "what direction it takes, what's allowed, what isn't.." that's literally W3C. They define all the standards that browsers, web pages, and servers should implement so that everything can be compatible.

Browsers SHOULD have a mono-culture because compatibility is a good thing.

If you're talking about "one browser controlled by three", you're mixing your terms. You're talking about the rendering engine, not the browser itself.
