@ Arnox:Actually, sometimes, at least with 8.1 and older, it can sometimes not update the desktop properly to reflect changes. Just right-click the desktop and hit Refresh.

@ Vendor-Lazarus:I did all that, and restarted the windows process and went into CMD and recreated a copy of the folder and file, to no avail. I fixed it creating a shortcut of the fake file in its folder, and pasting it onto the nuisance.

@ Vendor-Lazarus:I solved it already, as I said, but what it did state was something like "file can't be found" when I tried to delete it. The shortcut existed visibly on the desktop, but not in the users/desktop folder, or in the CMD directory.

@ Vendor-Lazarus:The shortcut pointed to itself (in the desktop folder), and didn't give the location it was supposed to have, in the files properties. Thankfully though, it was very recent and I knew where it was supposed to be pointing to.
